Senator Kabiru Marafa has officially confirmed his resignation from the All Progressives Congress (APC).
The former Tinubu/Shettima 2023 Presidential Campaign Coordinator in Zamfara State revealed his decision to Channels Television through a text message on Sunday.
His confirmation followed a meeting of his political camp held between Wednesday and Thursday, where leaders unanimously resolved to part ways with the APC, citing reasons such as neglect, injustice, and the worsening security crisis in Zamfara State.
In a communiqué issued after the meeting, the group raised alarm over the state’s deteriorating security, pointing to recent figures that ranked Zamfara as the state with the highest number of kidnapping incidents in Nigeria.

The group further accused the Federal Government of politicizing security during the recent Kaura Namoda bye-election, alleging that security agencies were used to secure APC’s victory rather than prioritizing the protection of citizens’ lives.
On the issue of appointments, Marafa’s supporters criticized what they described as deliberate marginalization of Zamfara, despite the state’s role in delivering votes for APC in the 2023 presidential elections.
They noted that while several states in the North-West region were rewarded with multiple ministerial slots, Zamfara was allocated only one. They also lamented the lack of substantial federal intervention for communities repeatedly devastated by bandit attacks.
The statement, signed by Comrade Bashir Muhammad Mafara (Chairman) and Dr. Mannir Bature Tsafe (Secretary), stressed that the group would soon unveil its new political direction, aligning with the broader aspirations of Zamfara residents.
