Rescue crews in Alaska are searching for a missing small commercial plane that disappeared with 10 people on board. The Bering Air Caravan, carrying nine passengers and one pilot, was last reported overdue on Thursday during a flight from Unalakleet to Nome.

According to local authorities, the aircraft was scheduled to land in Nome at 4:00 pm Alaska Standard Time but vanished after the pilot reported plans to enter a holding pattern while awaiting runway clearance. The plane’s last known position, as tracked by FlightRadar24, was over the water approximately 40 minutes after takeoff.

The U.S. Coast Guard has deployed a C-130 aircraft to assist ground search teams, but no updates on the plane’s location have been provided as of Friday. Nome’s volunteer fire department confirmed that search efforts are ongoing.

This incident follows a series of recent aviation disasters in the U.S., including a January 30 midair collision between a passenger jet and a U.S. Army helicopter in Washington, which claimed 67 lives, and a medical plane crash in Philadelphia that resulted in multiple casualties.
