Saudi Arabia to Host Key Summit on Gaza Reconstruction Amid Rising Tensions

Saudi Arabia is set to host a high-level summit bringing together leaders from across the Arab world as discussions on the reconstruction of the Gaza Strip gain momentum. Leaders from Egypt, Jordan, and the Gulf States are expected to convene in Riyadh on Friday, according to Arab diplomatic sources.

The summit will primarily focus on Egypt’s proposal to oversee the rebuilding of Gaza under the “complete supervision” of Arab nations. This initiative comes in response to a controversial suggestion by U.S. President Donald Trump, who proposed permanently relocating Gaza’s two million residents to neighboring Arab states. The proposal has been met with strong opposition from Egypt, Jordan, and other regional powers, who view it as a direct violation of Palestinian sovereignty.

In an effort to counter American and Israeli efforts to push forward with Trump’s relocation plan, Egypt is advancing its own reconstruction strategy. The UN estimates that rebuilding Gaza could cost approximately $53 billion, with $20 billion needed within the first three years.

With mounting regional tensions, the upcoming summit in Riyadh is expected to shape the next steps in addressing Gaza’s future, reaffirming Arab nations’ commitment to Palestinian sovereignty and long-term stability.
