Real Madrid defender Raul Asencio will face trial alongside three former Los Blancos youth players in a case tied to the alleged recording and distribution of a sexual video involving a minor, Spain’s General Council of the Judiciary confirmed on Thursday.
A Las Palmas court announced the “opening of oral proceedings against the four footballers allegedly involved in the recording and/or non-consensual distribution of videos with sexual content involving a minor and another young woman,” according to the judiciary’s statement. The ruling, issued on September 2, cannot be appealed, though no trial date has been set.

Asencio admitted in May that he was among the accused but maintained his “innocence of any criminal conduct,” stressing that the court had not accused him of filming or participating in the video.
Court documents reviewed by AFP indicated that the case involved “the recording or non-consensual dissemination of videos of a sexual nature involving a minor and another young girl,” aged 16 and 18 at the time.

The investigation began in September 2023, when three Real Madrid youth players were arrested at the club’s training centre after the mother of the 16-year-old filed a complaint. Reports suggest a player recorded a consensual encounter with her in Gran Canaria before sharing the video without consent.
Following the revelations, Asencio, 22, has faced hostile receptions at stadiums, with fans jeering and chanting for him to “die.”
