Controversial Nigerian singer Habeeb Okikiola, popularly known as Portable, has reportedly fled police arrest following an alleged physical altercation with his fourth baby mama, actress and skit maker Ashabi Simple, in Ogun State.

The incident, which has since sparked widespread outrage on social media, reportedly occurred on Thursday, January 1, 2026, during Ashabi’s visit to the singer’s bar. A viral video from the scene captured a heated confrontation between the duo, with Ashabi visibly distressed as she confronted Portable over what she described as his persistent refusal to acknowledge her status beyond that of a “baby mama.”

Ashabi Simple and potable

In the footage, Ashabi was seen holding onto Portable’s clothing while emotionally insisting that she be recognized as his wife, urging him to stop referring to her merely as a baby mama. “Oya pami, baby, I’m also your wife; you have to stop calling me your baby mama,” she said.

Portable, however, rejected her claim, reiterating that he only recognizes his wife, Bewaji, while describing other women with whom he has children as baby mamas. “I only have one wife; the rest of you are just baby mamas,” the singer declared.

His response further escalated the confrontation, with Ashabi tearfully replying, “Then you will have to kill me, baby,” as tensions flared.

Following the incident, Ashabi and her siblings reportedly complained to the police, accusing Portable of assault, abuse, and threats. In a video shared on her Instagram page, the actress alleged that the singer physically attacked her, confiscated their phones, and threatened her and her siblings with an axe.

According to Ashabi, police officers later visited Portable’s residence in an attempt to arrest him but met only his pregnant wife, Bewaji, as the singer had allegedly gone into hiding. She recounted that the altercation began after Portable invited her to his bar, claiming he was in a bad mood and requesting she bring him New Year’s food. What she described as a “minor disagreement” allegedly turned violent.

The incident has generated mixed reactions online. While some Nigerians condemned Portable’s alleged actions and called for accountability, others criticized Ashabi, accusing her of forcing herself on the singer and questioning her self-esteem. The debate has once again reignited conversations around toxic relationships, domestic abuse, and the complex dynamics surrounding celebrity culture in Nigeria.

As of the time of filing this report, Portable has not publicly responded to the allegations, and the police have yet to issue an official statement on the matter.
