The Ogun State Police Command has confirmed the arrest of two individuals over the unlawful possession of three human skulls in the Ijebu area of the state.

In a statement released in Abeokuta, the state capital, by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, Omolola Odutola, the arrests followed a stop-and-search operation carried out by a team of Mobile Police Officers from 71 PMF Awa Ijebu.

According to Odutola, the incident occurred on Monday, 11th August 2025, at around 2:00 p.m., when officers stationed along the Ijebu Ode/Ibadan Expressway at Refugees Camp Junction, Oru Ijebu, stopped a motorcycle rider identified as Kadir Owolabi. A search of his belongings revealed a disturbing find — three human skulls.

She further explained that preliminary investigations led the police to apprehend another suspect, 53-year-old Jamiu Yisa, near the Ijebu Ode Local Government Secretariat.

The Ogun State Commissioner of Police, Lanre Ogunlowo, has ordered the State Criminal Investigation Department (CID) to take over the matter for thorough and discreet investigation.

Reaffirming its commitment to combating crime, the State Police Command urged residents to work closely with law enforcement while assuring the public of confidentiality, trust, and the protection of informants’ identities.
