Summary
Senator Adams Oshiomhole, who represents Edo North, has criticised former Vice President Atiku Abubakar over his recent move to the African Democratic Congress (ADC), arguing that Atiku lacks the credibility to reform Nigeria.
Appearing on Channels Television’s Politics Today on Monday, the former Edo State governor openly mocked Atiku’s political trajectory and questioned his ability to bring national change.
Oshiomhole argued that Atiku’s long-running inability to stabilise the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) undermines his claim that he can transform the country. The former National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) insisted that Atiku had repeatedly failed to provide sustained leadership within the PDP, despite spending decades as one of its most influential figures.
He stressed this point further, asking pointedly how someone who “could not fix PDP” could convincingly present himself as capable of fixing Nigeria. Oshiomhole recalled that Atiku departed the APC only after failing to secure its presidential ticket, suggesting that his political commitments were driven solely by personal ambitions.
According to him, Atiku’s constant movement between parties reflects a lack of political stability. He argued that if Atiku could not strengthen the very party that elevated him to the position of vice president, there is little justification for his current claim of having solutions to Nigeria’s challenges.

Atiku joined the ADC four months after formally leaving the PDP, citing leadership issues within the opposition party as his reason for resigning.
During the programme, Oshiomhole also took aim at former Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi, accusing him of poor leadership choices and misguided priorities during his time in office. He referenced Amaechi’s role in the closure of the Rivers State judiciary and criticised the former minister for pursuing a railway project to Niger Republic instead of focusing on critical Nigerian cities such as Kano or Port Harcourt.
Oshiomhole argued that Amaechi failed to address key transport challenges during his eight-year tenure and accused him of favouring questionable projects that offered no direct benefit to Nigerians. He added that former President Muhammadu Buhari gave his appointees full autonomy, suggesting that Amaechi had no excuse for any lapses during his stewardship.
