The New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) has instructed its state executive officers across the country to immediately launch a fresh mobilisation effort targeting credible politicians who can strengthen the party ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The directive also includes an immediate commencement of new membership registration and an update of the party’s existing membership database.
In a statement issued on Friday in Lagos, the party’s Founder and Chairman of the Board of Trustees, Dr. Boniface Aniebonam, said all state and local government executives must ensure that only politicians with unquestionable records, integrity, and honour are admitted into the party. He stressed that the NNPP cannot afford further internal crises after years of leadership disputes.
Aniebonam explained that the party’s attention had long been diverted by the leadership conflict between the NNPP and the Senator Rabiu Kwankwaso-led Kwankwasiya Movement.
According to him, the struggle to take over the party resulted in a series of court cases that hampered the NNPP’s capacity to participate fully in previous elections. With those matters gradually being resolved, he said it is time for the party to refocus and pursue its founding vision of promoting responsible leadership built on the fear of God.
He added that members who are unwilling to uphold the ideals of the NNPP are free to leave for other political platforms. He noted that the party holds no resentment toward former members who exited during the crisis, saying they should be wished well wherever they have gone.
Aniebonam insisted that forgiveness is necessary, despite the betrayals that led to their expulsion, and urged party loyalists not to be disturbed by distractions or negative motives, emphasizing that the NNPP’s success remains assured.

Addressing the long-running dispute with Kwankwaso and Elder Buba Galadima, Aniebonam said he had already put the past behind him and holds no personal grievances. He clarified that the party only took issue with the Kwankwasiya Movement’s use of the NNPP’s name and the adoption of the wrong logo in political engagements.
He stressed that the NNPP’s legitimate logo is a basket of fruits in green and white, not the red-colored book symbol used by the Kwankwasiya group. He added that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) cannot register two political parties bearing the same name but displaying different logos.
Aniebonam noted that Kwankwaso joined the NNPP in 2022 through the Kwankwasiya Movement, more than two decades after he himself registered the party in 2001.
He recalled that the NNPP entered into a Memorandum of Understanding with the Kwankwasiya Movement solely for the 2023 elections and that the agreement ended immediately after the polls. As such, he said Kwankwaso and his supporters are free to join any other registered political party or revive their previously deregistered platform, the Nigeria Alliance Party (NAP).
He urged all NNPP leaders and members to move forward with renewed dedication, insisting that the opportunity has come for rebuilding and repositioning the party to achieve its core mission as the next election cycle approaches.
