Niger State Governor, Umaru Bago, has formally inaugurated 30 commissioners, 25 duly elected local government council chairmen alongside their vice chairmen, as well as members of governing boards of strategic state institutions.

The inauguration ceremony was held at the Hauwa Wali Multi-Purpose Hall within the Government House complex in Minna. The Chief Judge of Niger State, Justice Halima Abdulmalik, delegated the administration of the oath of office and allegiance to Justice Maimuna Abubakar of High Court 6, who presided over the exercise.

Addressing the newly sworn-in officials, Governor Bago said their appointments followed a thorough process that considered experience, competence, and demonstrated capacity. He expressed strong belief in their ability to provide effective leadership and contribute meaningfully to the development of a more prosperous Niger State.

The governor encouraged the appointees to learn from past governance experiences and to work in unity toward creating a state that is sustainable, inclusive, and forward-looking.

“The New Niger Agenda requires dedication, discipline, and results-driven leadership. I expect all of you to give your best in the interest of our dear state,” the governor stated.

Speaking at the event, the Secretary to the State Government, Abubakar Usman, charged the officials to recognize the weight of responsibility now placed on them. He stressed that the success of the administration’s development plans would largely depend on how effectively they discharge their duties.

Usman disclosed that a retreat had been arranged to ensure that the officials are fully aligned with the administration’s focus areas and to clearly define expectations surrounding their respective assignments.

The officials inaugurated included board members of the Niger State Universal Basic Education Board, the Secondary Education Board, and the Law Reform Commission, among other key agencies.
