The Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) has officially commenced the disbursement of upkeep allowances to students who have successfully updated their bank account information, switching from digital wallet platforms to traditional commercial banks.
This development was confirmed in a statement released on Friday in Abuja by the Fund’s Director of Strategic Communications, Mrs. Oseyemi Oluwatuyi.
According to Oluwatuyi, this marks a crucial milestone in addressing the disbursement delays that had previously affected many student beneficiaries. Over 3,600 students, who initially registered their accounts with digital-only financial service providers, have now received their outstanding payments after updating their bank details on the NELFUND portal.
“We appreciate the patience and understanding of all affected students during this period. Your resilience and cooperation have made this progress possible,” Oluwatuyi stated.
She further encouraged students who have not yet updated their bank details to immediately take action. Affected students are advised to raise a support ticket through the official NELFUND portal to gain access for updating their banking information. In cases where students are unable to resolve the issue individually, they are urged to report through their institution’s IT office. These offices will be responsible for compiling and forwarding unresolved cases to NELFUND for appropriate handling.
Oluwatuyi emphasized the fund’s unwavering dedication to inclusivity, assuring that no eligible student will be left behind during the disbursement process.
“This resolution process is part of our broader effort to enhance the efficiency, transparency, and student-centred delivery of our support services,” she said.
She also appealed to students to interact only through NELFUND’s official communication channels and to assist colleagues who may need guidance in navigating the bank update process.
