The National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) has expressed strong support for President Bola Tinubu’s appointment of Ms. Derinsola Abiola, daughter of the late Chief MKO Abiola, as the Director-General of the Citizenship and Leadership Training Centre (CLTC).
In a statement issued by its National Public Relations Officer, Comrade Adeyemi Samson Ajasa, NANS described the appointment as a perfect fit, likening it to placing a round peg in a round hole. The association praised President Tinubu for what it termed a thoughtful and well-deserved decision.
According to NANS, Ms. Abiola had previously served with distinction as Senior Special Assistant on Citizenship and Leadership, where she demonstrated exceptional focus, competence, and dedication to advancing national development, civic responsibility, and youth empowerment. The statement highlighted her deep commitment to fostering responsible citizenship and leadership among Nigerian youth during her tenure in that role.
NANS noted that the new appointment reflects her impressive track record and the confidence President Tinubu has in her capabilities. The association expressed optimism that as DG, Ms. Abiola would have an even greater platform to drive impactful initiatives and achieve remarkable outcomes.
The students’ body celebrated her new milestone, urging her to maintain focus, dedication, and a strong commitment to national service. NANS also pledged its readiness to support all efforts aimed at strengthening youth leadership, promoting national unity, and deepening civic responsibility.
