Popular Nigerian singer of the iconic music duo P-Square, Peter Okoye, popularly known as Mr P, has once again shed light on the reason behind his split from his twin brother and musical partner, Paul Okoye, aka Rudeboy.
In a candid interview on Cool FM Lagos, Mr P revealed that the decision to part ways was not taken lightly but was necessary for personal and professional growth.
“There’s a joy that comes with going solo,” he stated during the interview, expressing a sense of relief and renewed purpose in his independent career. Please respect our decisions. He said.
The emotional remark reflects the turbulent history of the group, which first disbanded in 2016 following a public fallout.
Though they thrilled fans with a surprise reunion in 2021, the harmony was short-lived. Paul Okoye later confirmed in August 2024 that P-Square had officially broken up again, ending months of speculation surrounding the duo’s future.
While fans continue to express nostalgia for the golden era of the duo, Mr P’s recent comments suggest a desire for fans to move forward and embrace their individual paths. “We’ve tried it, it’s not working,” he reiterated, hinting at underlying differences that persist despite attempts at reconciliation.
