What you should know
The PDP, Nigeria’s leading opposition party, has consistently used its governors’ forum as a platform to shape strategies for national politics.
These meetings often influence decisions on zoning arrangements, constitutional amendments, and election preparations. With the 2025 National Convention approaching, the Gusau gathering highlights ongoing efforts to maintain unity and reposition the party ahead of upcoming elections.
Beyond internal issues, PDP governors also use such forums to critique national governance and chart policies to strengthen democracy. Their stance on INEC and electoral reforms could shape future elections and the party’s ability to challenge the ruling APC.
