Former Chelsea winger Florent Malouda has urged Christopher Nkunku to consider a move away from Stamford Bridge, suggesting Arsenal or Bayern Munich as ideal destinations for the French forward.
Speaking to Racing Tipster, Malouda admitted uncertainty about whether Nkunku should leave Chelsea but stressed the importance of regular playing time, especially with the 2026 FIFA World Cup fast approaching.
“Arsenal or Bayern Munich would be the right kind of place for him to go, but I’m not sure he should leave Chelsea,” Malouda said via Goal. “Personally, I like him as a player, as a person. I would love him to fight and to prove what he showed in the beginning.”
The former France international noted that Nkunku’s struggles at Chelsea seem to stem more from a psychological challenge than a lack of ability.
“I think it’s more a mental aspect that he needs to work on a little bit, like Jadon Sancho. Moving clubs, it’s sometimes running away from what you have to adjust,” Malouda added.
He acknowledged that although the Bundesliga is familiar territory for Nkunku, moving to Bayern Munich would not guarantee an easier path, given the high level of competition.
“But yeah, Bayern Munich or Arsenal would be good clubs for him to continue to progress, and most important is to prepare for the World Cup coming next year.”
Nkunku has struggled to cement a place in Chelsea’s starting XI under new manager Enzo Maresca. The French attacker has primarily featured in cup matches and is reportedly considering his options to secure more consistent playing time.
