The Kaduna State Police Command has apprehended ten suspected armed robbers and four illegal gun manufacturers in a series of coordinated operations across the state.
Command spokesperson, Mansir Hassan, confirmed the arrests and disclosed that security operatives recovered eight locally made firearms, sixteen cartridges, three vehicles, and a motorcycle during the operations.
Among the suspects were Sanusi Bala from Zamfara State and Nura Bala from Zaria, Kaduna State, who were caught in the act of attempting to steal a tricycle. They later confessed to being part of a notorious gang that targets commercial tricycle operators, and revealed that the stolen vehicles were typically sold to one Jamilu Zurmi in Zamfara.
Further police efforts led to the recovery of three stolen vehicles linked to the syndicate: a dark blue Golf III Wagon (ABC-152-AL), a green Golf III Wagon (ABJ-900-RE), and another unregistered dark blue Golf III Wagon. Authorities say they are actively pursuing additional suspects, including the alleged buyer, Zurmi.
In another operation, five suspected armed robbers—Ahmed Umar Isah Musa, Zailani Sa’adu, Abdulrahman Mukhtar, and Ibrahim Sa’adu—were arrested after robbing a resident of Unguwan Sanusi in Kaduna South LGA of his Toyota Corolla and personal belongings. Investigations revealed the stolen car was sold to Garba Yaro in Maradi, Niger Republic, who is now on the run. Police identified Yaro as a known buyer of stolen vehicles.
Separately, four suspects were arrested for illegally manufacturing firearms in Giroji village, Makarfi LGA. The suspects—Hassan Ibrahim, Murtala Yakubu, Shuaibu Abubakar, and Ismail Shuaibu—were caught with three locally made rifles, three incomplete rifle frames, live ammunition, and a bench vice machine.
The police anti-kidnapping unit also arrested three suspects in Doya village, Makarfi LGA, linked to the abduction of a resident’s wife from Kwatakore village. The suspects—Rabilu Lawal, Sirajo Shuaibu, and Shehu Sarki—were found with two locally made guns and two live cartridges.
In yet another raid, armed robbery suspects were arrested at Kano Road in Kaduna North LGA following intelligence reports on their activities.
All suspects remain in custody as investigations continue, with security agencies working to apprehend additional accomplices and dismantle the criminal networks.
