After weeks of fierce competition and electrifying performances, Purp has emerged as the winner of Nigerian Idol Season 10, marking a historic milestone as the first female contestant to claim the crown since 2014. The achievement comes after 12 weeks of intense competition that captivated audiences across Nigeria.

The grand finale, which aired live on Sunday evening, delivered a spectacular showdown between Purp and fellow finalist Raymu. The 25-year-old from Lagos, whose real name is Anu Agosta, garnered the title after going head-to-head with fellow finalist Raymu in what proved to be a thrilling conclusion to the season.

Host IK Osakioduwa presided over an evening filled with musical tributes, guest performances, and high-energy acts that kept viewers engaged throughout the broadcast. The finale showcased both finalists’ vocal prowess and stage presence, with each delivering powerful performances that demonstrated their growth throughout the competition.

The voting results ultimately favored Purp, who secured the highest number of votes from Nigerian audiences nationwide. Her victory was met with overwhelming celebration from fans who had followed her journey from the early audition stages through the weekly eliminations.

As the newly crowned champion, Purp has secured an impressive prize package valued at a significant amount. The winner’s rewards include a brand-new SUV, a ₦30 million cash prize, a DStv Explora with a one-year premium subscription, and, crucially, a music deal designed to launch her professional recording career.

In an emotional victory speech, Purp expressed profound gratitude to her supporters, stating, “Thank you so much, guys; thank you so much, Nigeria. I’m grateful and honored for this. Thank you for your support. I love you guys so much. Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!”

The judging panel, consisting of industry veterans Omawumi, Ric Hassani, and Iyanya, along with guest judge 9ice, praised both finalists for their remarkable development throughout the season. The judges consistently highlighted the contestants’ growth, consistency, and unwavering determination as key factors in their success.

This season’s format began with online auditions that opened to Nigerian citizens aged 16 to 30, with the application period closing on February 2. Following extensive screening processes, the live show phase commenced on May 25, featuring the Top 10 contestants who would compete for the coveted title.

The final group of contestants included Mikki, Raymu, Ellacentric, Kristopher, Sally, Boss Lady, Brammy, Jkenova, Lawrence, and the eventual winner, Purp. Each week, these talented performers faced elimination based on a combination of judges’ critiques and public voting, with assessments focusing on vocal strength, stage presence, and overall star quality.

The competition format emphasized audience participation, with viewers’ votes ultimately determining contestants’ fate each week. This democratic approach ensured that the winner truly represented the choice of Nigerian music fans nationwide.

Purp’s victory represents more than just individual achievement; it marks a critical moment for female representation in Nigerian entertainment, breaking an 11-year drought of female winners in the competition. Her success story is expected to inspire a new generation of female performers to pursue their dreams in the competitive music industry.

The season’s conclusion sets the stage for Purp’s transition from reality TV contestant to professional recording artist, with her music deal providing the platform to establish herself in Nigeria’s vibrant music scene. Industry observers will be watching closely to see how she leverages this opportunity to build a sustainable career in entertainment.
