Armed men launched an attack on a residence in Filin Canada Quarters, Katsina State, in the early hours of Tuesday, killing a vigilante member and abducting a man, his wife, and their daughter.

Katsina Police Command spokesperson, Abubakar Aliyu, confirmed the incident in a statement, noting that it occurred around 3:00 a.m. at the home of 33-year-old Anas Ahmadu. The attackers fatally shot 25-year-old Abdullahi Muhammad, a member of the local vigilante group, before escaping with the victims.

“Upon receipt of the report, the DPO quickly rushed to the scene, restoring normalcy in the area as investigation commenced with a view to tracking and arresting the perpetrators of the dastardly act,” Aliyu said.

Aliyu added that additional personnel and assets had been deployed to facilitate the rescue of the abducted victims and ensure the arrest of the suspects.

The command urged residents to promptly report suspicious or criminal activities to the nearest police station or make use of its emergency line for swift response.
