Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has firmly denied circulating rumours about his possible defection from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), declaring on Monday that he remains loyal to the party and is focused solely on serving the people.
The governor made these remarks at the flag-off ceremony for the dualisation of a 3.5-kilometre stretch of Ila township road in Ila-Orangun. Speaking with conviction, Governor Adeleke emphasized that his political mission is rooted in delivering effective governance and that no speculation or distraction will deter him from fulfilling his promises to the people of Osun State.
He expressed deep satisfaction at the launch of the Ila township road dualisation project, especially in light of the ongoing socioeconomic uncertainties facing the country. Adeleke stressed that his faith in God and commitment to the citizens of Osun remain unwavering.
“I made a solemn vow to God and to the good people of Osun State that I will serve them diligently,” the governor said, reinforcing his pledge. “Nothing will make me abandon that promise.”
Highlighting the achievements of his administration so far, Adeleke proudly stated that over 175 kilometres of roads have already been reconstructed, rehabilitated, or renovated. In addition, multiple major projects—including dualisation and flyover developments—are at various levels of execution across the state.
He placed particular emphasis on the Osogbo–Ikirun–Inisha–Okuku–Ijabe–Ila Odo corridor, describing the 39-kilometre route as critically important. Ila Odo, a boundary community with Kwara State, marks a key point in Adeleke’s infrastructure strategy, and he assured the public of his government’s determination to bring the entire project to completion.
Reaffirming his political stance, Governor Adeleke declared: “I was elected under the PDP platform, and that is where I will remain. I’m not defecting to any other party.”
He went on to reveal that the newly launched second phase of the Ila township road is nearly equal in length to the segment that took 12 years to finish previously. Confident in his administration’s capabilities, Adeleke promised to deliver the current phase within 12 months.
Reflecting on the broader significance of the development, he stated: “This occasion represents more than just another road project. It is the manifestation of a divine arrangement. God has orchestrated every step of our journey—who we were, who we are, and who we will become.”
