The Ex-Rangers International Footballers Cooperative has announced the death of Mr. Dominic Nwobodo, popularly known as Alhaji Nwobodo, a pioneer member of Rangers International Football Club.
Nwobodo died at about 7pm on Friday, August 14, 2026.

He was described as a feared attacker and a notable national player during the 1970s. He also served football as a coach after his playing career.
Nwobodo was also one of the founding members of the Ex-Rangers International Footballers Cooperative.
The cooperative said his contributions as both a player and coach played an important role in the history and development of the Rangers family.
It expressed sadness over his death and described him as a respected member of the football community.
“We mourn the loss of a respected figure whose contributions significantly shaped the history and development of our esteemed Rangers family both as a player and coach,” the cooperative said.
The cooperative extended its condolences to Nwobodo’s family, friends and members of the Rangers fraternity.
“May Almighty God grant them the strength and fortitude to bear this irreparable loss.”
It also prayed for the peaceful rest of the former footballer.
“May the gentle soul of our dear colleague, Mr. Dominic Nwobodo (Alhaji Nwobodo), rest in perfect peace. Amen.”
The cooperative said further information about his burial arrangements would be announced later.
