FIFA has officially unveiled the 2025 editions of The Best Men’s and Women’s 11, honouring the players who delivered the most outstanding performances in world football over the past season.
The announcement was made on Tuesday during the awards ceremony in Doha, Qatar, with Paris Saint-Germain emerging as the most dominant club in the men’s selection.
PSG’s historic campaign, which saw the French side win their first-ever UEFA Champions League title and advance to the final of the FIFA Club World Cup, was strongly reflected in the final team. Six players from their Champions League-winning squad were included after playing key roles throughout the season.
Goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma, who has since moved to Manchester City, earned his place alongside defenders Achraf Hakimi, Willian Pacho and Nuno Mendes, while midfield orchestrator Vitinha and forward Ousmane Dembélé also made the cut.
Beyond PSG’s dominance, other standout performers were recognised for their impact across major competitions. Cole Palmer, who claimed the adidas Golden Ball at the FIFA Club World Cup, was rewarded with a place in midfield, while teenage sensation Lamine Yamal was included after a remarkable breakthrough season that underlined his growing influence at the highest level.
The men’s selection was determined based on performances recorded between 11 August 2024 and 2 August 2025, with votes cast by football experts and registered fans, each group accounting for equal weight in the final outcome.
In the women’s category, the 2025 The Best Women’s 11 highlighted the strength of Spanish and English football, with seven Spanish players and four from England making the final team.
The selections followed a highly competitive year that featured a dramatic UEFA Women’s EURO 2025 final between Spain and England, as well as Arsenal’s triumph over Barcelona in the UEFA Women’s Champions League final.
The women’s team reflected excellence across all areas of the pitch, from goalkeeping and defence to midfield creativity and attacking threat. FIFA applied the same assessment period and voting process used for the men’s award, evaluating nominees on their performances and overall influence at both club and international levels throughout the season.
What you should know
The Best FIFA Men’s and Women’s 11 awards are designed to recognise consistent excellence rather than isolated moments.
Players are assessed over a full season, taking into account their influence in domestic leagues, continental competitions and international tournaments. Voting is shared equally between football experts and fans, ensuring both professional evaluation and public opinion shape the final outcome.
The 2025 selections underline PSG’s rise as a European powerhouse in the men’s game, while Spain and England continue to dominate women’s football at elite level, reflecting long-term investment in player development and competitive structures.
