The Federal Government of Nigeria has approved $1.7 billion for the Human Capital Opportunities for Prosperity and Equity – Governance (HOPE-GOVERNANCE) project, along with the Primary Health Care Provision Strengthening (HOPE-PHC) project.
The approval was granted during a recent Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting.
The HOPE-PHC project is designed to enhance access to quality healthcare services and strengthen the resilience of Nigeria’s health system. Meanwhile, the HOPE-GOVERNANCE project focuses on governance reforms aimed at improving healthcare financing, promoting transparency and accountability, and enhancing the recruitment, deployment, and performance management of primary healthcare workers at the Federal, State, and Local Government levels.
The Federal Ministry of Health and Social Welfare will oversee the implementation of the HOPE-PHC project, while the Federal Ministry of Budget and Economic Planning will be responsible for managing the HOPE-GOVERNANCE project.
