Billionaire Elon Musk, the world’s richest man, is now halfway to becoming the first trillionaire, according to Forbes.
The Tesla and SpaceX CEO briefly hit a net worth of $500.1 billion on Wednesday before it dipped slightly to $499.1 billion, as tracked by Forbes’ Real-Time Billionaires list. The milestone comes amid a rebound in Tesla’s stock following Musk’s controversial political ventures and steady gains across his businesses.

Musk, 54, leads the global rich list, ahead of Oracle’s Larry Ellison, valued at $350.7 billion, and Meta’s Mark Zuckerberg, with $245.8 billion.
After studying at the University of Pennsylvania and dropping out of Stanford, Musk made his first millions by selling an online publishing software company to Compaq for over $300 million in 1999. He went on to co-found what became PayPal, and later established SpaceX in 2002 before joining Tesla in 2004 as chairman.
