The Department of State Services (DSS) has released the names of 115 former personnel dismissed from the Service and warned Nigerians to be cautious when dealing with anyone claiming to be an operative.
The announcement, posted on the Service’s official website on Tuesday, is part of efforts to cleanse the organisation and protect the public from individuals using the DSS identity to deceive or defraud others.
“As part of the ongoing reforms in the Department of State Services (DSS), the public is hereby informed that a total of 115 personnel have been dismissed over a period,” the Service said.
According to the DSS, some of the dismissed individuals continue to pose as serving operatives, prompting the publication of their names to prevent unsuspecting Nigerians from being misled.

“In addition to earlier disclaimers on the duo of Barry Donald and Victor Onyedikachi Godwin, the Service finds it necessary to warn citizens of the fraudulent activities of some of these persons still posing as DSS personnel,” the statement added.
The DSS urged Nigerians, government agencies, private organisations, and community leaders to always verify the identity of anyone presenting themselves as a DSS representative before engaging them in any official capacity.
“Members of the public are therefore advised to desist from any official dealing with these individuals who have been dismissed by the Service,” it warned.
To promote transparency, the DSS published the full list of the dismissed personnel on its website for public verification.

This action is part of broader reform efforts aimed at strengthening discipline within the Service, ensuring accountability, and restoring public confidence by curbing the activities of impostors exploiting the DSS name.
The Service reaffirmed its commitment to professionalism and urged Nigerians to report any suspicious individuals claiming to be DSS operatives through official communication channels.
