China announced it would increase its tariffs on American goods by a substantial margin (125%). However, they also stated that they will disregard any further increases from Trump because they rationally understand that Chinese firms would not have any reason to buy American goods at such exorbitant prices.

Under the leadership of President Trump, the US has implemented tariffs on imports from other nations, including China. In his defense, Trump argues that this will drive companies to set up manufacturing plants within the US and will encourage other countries to purchase more American goods.
Things got messy this week when both countries escalated these tariffs. Trump raised the tariffs on China much more than they already were.

China believes that Trump’s actions are irrational, and they claim that the world economy is in trouble because of his policies. They took the United States to the World Trade Organization to vent their frustrations.

The US president defended his stance, predicting long-term benefits despite existing challenges. He also claimed that the European Union deserves praise for not retaliating with their taxes.

However, the European Union claims that they stand prepared to act if necessary. Countries like France are also asking the EU to take a tougher stance on these tariffs.

China’s leader even proposed that China and the EU collaborate against Trump’s moves.

Due to all this controversial trading, the stock markets in Asia and Europe suffered a decline alongside the price of oil. Some investors have concerns over the stability of the global economic system.

Experts argue that Trump’s policies are damaging American businesses and driving up costs for citizens. On the flip side, several of his aides are claiming a “golden age” of the economy is right around the corner for the United States.

In the case that Trump does not get the trade deals he demands, he threatens to reinstate the taxes after a couple of months.

Other nations, such as Canada and Vietnam, are waiting in line to discuss trade with the United States. Currently, China is maneuvering to win support from other Asian countries in the ongoing dispute.

In a nutshell, the US and China appear to be struggling with each other due to the economic gap, launching tariffs onto one another’s resources and causing worldwide concern.
