The Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Mr. Olayemi Cardoso, has reiterated the bank’s commitment to bolstering economic cooperation between Nigeria and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. Speaking during a courtesy visit by Saudi Arabian Ambassador H.E. Faisal bin Ibrahim Alghamdi to Nigeria, Cardoso emphasized that the CBN is dedicated to nurturing partnerships in key sectors that drive economic growth and development.

In a statement released yesterday, Cardoso affirmed, “The Central Bank of Nigeria remains committed to advancing partnerships that will deepen economic ties between Nigeria and Saudi Arabia. We will continue to explore opportunities that yield tangible benefits for both countries.” He further assured that the CBN is well-prepared to play a pivotal role in facilitating collaboration, which is expected to deliver significant economic advantages for both nations.

Ambassador Alghamdi, in his remarks, expressed gratitude for the warm reception from Cardoso and reiterated Saudi Arabia’s strong interest in enhancing bilateral cooperation. He specifically highlighted renewable energy, agriculture, and water connectivity as sectors where the Kingdom is keen to forge closer ties with Nigeria. “We are eager to strengthen our relationship with Nigeria and explore mutually beneficial opportunities that will contribute to the prosperity of both nations,” he stated.

Cardoso also commended the Saudi government for its exceptional hospitality during the recently concluded AIUla event, hosted by the Saudi Ministry of Finance in collaboration with the International Monetary Fund (IMF) Regional Office in Riyadh. This meeting underscores a renewed commitment to deepening economic relations between the two countries, with an emphasis on strategic investments and robust trade partnerships.
