The Bauchi State Police Command has neutralized two suspected bandits and recovered an AK-49 rifle during a tactical operation.

In a press statement issued on Wednesday, the command’s spokesperson, Ahmed Wakil, disclosed that the operation was carried out on Tuesday by officers from the Alkaleri Divisional Police Headquarters in collaboration with Special Hunters.

According to Wakil, the operation aimed to strengthen security in the Gwana District and border areas connecting Taraba, Plateau, and Gombe states.

“Acting on credible intelligence and leveraging established community networks, the operational team encountered suspected bandits while conducting surveillance in the Dajin Madan Forest,” he stated.

He further explained that the engagement led to the neutralization of two bandits, while others sustained injuries and fled into nearby bushes in disarray.

“The operation resulted in the recovery of one AK-49 assault rifle and nine rounds of live ammunition,” Wakil added.

Emphasizing the commitment of security forces and community partners to combating crime, he reaffirmed the police’s dedication to protecting lives and property.

“The Nigeria Police Force remains resolute in working closely with community stakeholders to ensure public safety and hold criminals accountable,” he noted.

Wakil assured that law enforcement agencies would continue to intensify efforts to maintain peace and security in the region, fostering a safe environment for residents.

He urged citizens to recognize security as a shared responsibility and encouraged the public to support the police in their mission to ensure safety and order.
