President Bola Tinubu has approved the formation of an oversight committee to coordinate Nigeria’s hosting of the 4th African Union Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) Forum, slated for June 23–27, 2025, in Abuja.
The forum, a key initiative of the African Union Commission established in 2022, aims to strengthen the MSME sector across the continent and drive regional trade and value chain integration.
The theme of the 2025 edition of the Forum is “Building Resilient MSMEs through Digital Innovation, Market Access & Affordable Financing for Africa”.
A statement from Temitola Adekunle-Johnson, Special Adviser to the President on Job Creation & MSMEs, highlighted Nigeria’s pivotal role in shaping the continental conversation on small business development.
The President’s approval of the oversight oversight committee underlines Nigeria’s dedication to entrepreneurship and inclusive economic growth.
The committee, chaired by Senator Ibrahim Hadejia, Deputy Chief of Staff to the President (Office of the Vice President), will be tasked with ensuring seamless planning and execution of the event. The forum will include panel discussions, exhibitions, MSME pitch competitions, networking sessions, sponsored side events, and awards for outstanding Nigerian entrepreneurs.
Committee members will be drawn from critical sectors, featuring a mix of senior officials and private sector stakeholders.
