The 51st American Music Awards (AMAs), scheduled for May 26, 2025, at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, will feature Nigerian artists Wizkid, Rema, Tems, and Asake, alongside South Africa’s Tyla, competing for Favorite Afrobeats Artist.
Introduced in 2022, the category saw Wizkid as its first winner, highlighting Afrobeats’ global rise.
The event will be hosted by Jennifer Lopez, who will also be performing. The ceremony will be aired live worldwide.
Kendrick Lamar leads with 10 nominations, including Artist of the Year and Song of the Year for “Not Like Us,” dominating the Favorite Hip-Hop Song category with three nominations.
Post Malone has eight nominations, while Billie Eilish, Chappell Roan, and Shaboozey each have seven. Taylor Swift, the AMAs’ most-awarded artist, earned six, alongside Bruno Mars, SZA, and Lady Gaga. Three new categories—Song of the Year, Album of the Year, and Social Song of the Year—will debut.
