Politicians who sold PDP to Tinubu revealed

Former Kogi West Senator Dino Melaye has accused three former leaders of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, of helping President Bola Tinubu and the All Progressives Congress, APC, weaken the opposition party.

Melaye made the allegation during an interview on the Kaa Truths podcast, where he discussed the crisis that has continued to affect the PDP and the growing political movement around the African Democratic Congress, ADC.

The former lawmaker named Umar Damagum, Samuel Anyanwu and Umar Bature as the former PDP officials he believed played a major role in the party’s troubles.

Damagum previously served as the acting National Chairman of the PDP, while Anyanwu was the party’s National Secretary and Bature served as its Organising Secretary.

Melaye alleged that the three officials worked in a way that allowed Tinubu and the APC to gain an advantage over the PDP.

He claimed their actions contributed to the weakening of the party and its inability to maintain a strong opposition against the ruling party.

According to the former senator, the situation later reached a point where the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, became involved in what he described as the final stage of the PDP’s decline.

Melaye, who is now a chieftain of the ADC, said the PDP had been badly affected by the actions of some of its leaders.

He linked the party’s current difficulties to a series of internal decisions and disagreements that have continued to create divisions among its members.

The PDP has been dealing with internal disputes for several months, with disagreements involving its national leadership, elected officials, former leaders and different groups within the party.

The crisis has also affected efforts to build a united opposition ahead of future elections, as some prominent PDP members have moved to other political platforms or formed alliances outside the party.
