A chieftain of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Kenneth Okonkwo, has released what he described as evidence to support his bribery allegations against the presidential candidate of the Nigerian Democratic Congress (NDC), Peter Obi.
Okonkwo had earlier alleged that Obi and some NDC leaders in the South-East collected ₦10 million from House of Representatives aspirants and ₦20 million from senatorial aspirants seeking the party’s tickets.
According to him, one of the aspirants, Obunike Ohaegbu, informed him about the alleged payments and provided a receipt as proof.
The allegations have since led to a lawsuit filed against Okonkwo by Obi’s legal team.
In a post on his 𝕏 account on Wednesday, Okonkwo shared screenshots of alleged WhatsApp conversations between himself and Ohaegbu. He claimed the chats showed how Obi was allegedly linked to the NDC primary election process.
“Obunike Ohaegbu, when I questioned him to prove that Peter Obi was responsible for demanding the ₦10m from him and other HOR aspirants and ₦20m from the Senate aspirants, he made it clear that when he confronted the Party on who authorised the payment, the party named Peter Obi and the caucus leaders who were assembled by Peter Obi,” Okonkwo posted.

Meanwhile, Okonkwo also accused some Obi supporters of monitoring activities on his social media platform.
The ADC chieftain criticised Obi for taking legal action against him and other critics, including Deji Adeyanju, over what he described as freedom of expression.
According to him, anyone seeking Nigeria’s highest office should be able to tolerate criticism and opposing views.
He further vowed to continue responding to supporters of the former Anambra State governor who challenge him on the issue.
In his words, “Some Obi’s ekukes came to spy on my platform and this is my response to one of them:
“You are as foolish as your Peter Obi, who can’t stand the truth. Tinubu is criticised, Atiku is criticised by Obi’s mad dogs. None of them sued people because they recognise that we are in a democracy and people are free to express themselves. Obi has sued Deji Adeyanju, and I heard he has written his wretched letter to Kenneth Okonkwo. If he has such a thin skin against criticism as an ordinary citizen, he will certainly kill all Nigerians with the guns of the state if he ever nears any position of office, God forbid, because Nigerians love to express themselves. We need a tolerant democratic President, not an Obi who does not know his left from his right. Go and get a job and a life.
“Henceforth, I will reply any Obi street urchin who comes to my platform to talk nonsense.”
