Rivers Governor Siminialayi Fubara and his group were unable to enter the House of Assembly Quarters on Wednesday.

The governor and a few members of his executive council arrived at the quarters in the early hours of Wednesday, only to find the gate shut.

Fubara, stated that he was in the Assembly Quarters to re-present the 2025 Appropriations Bill, alongside Edison Ehie, the Chief of Staff, and Dr. Tammy Danagogo, the Secretary to the State Government (SSG).

Before discussing the purpose of his visit, the governor could be heard asking, “Is the gate locked?” He claimed that although he was at the House of Assembly’s headquarters to reintroduce the 2025 Appropriations Bill in accordance with the ruling of the Supreme Court, the Assembly’s gate was barred.

The governor said that he had tried in vain to get in touch with the speaker of Rivers and other lawmakers to no avail.

Fubara added that he was merely working in the state’s best interests and that he had also written to the Speaker inviting him to re-present the budget but had not received a response.
