Kano State Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf has sacked the state’s Head of Service, Abdullahi Musa, from office with immediate effect.
The development was made public on Tuesday, March 11, 2026, in a statement released by the governor’s spokesperson, Sunusi Bature Dawakin Tofa.
Musa had already completed his official tenure as a civil servant in 2024.
However, the state government allowed him to remain in the position beyond that time and continue overseeing the activities of the civil service.
The state government has now decided to end the appointment as part of efforts to reorganise the civil service and improve the way government institutions operate across Kano State.
Governor Yusuf also appreciated Musa for the work he carried out during his time in office and for his commitment to the state while serving in the role.
Following the change, the governor directed that Bilkisu Shehu Maimota, who currently serves as Permanent Secretary for Administration and General Services in the Cabinet Office, should take over the position in an acting capacity.
She will handle the responsibilities of the office until a new substantive Head of Service is appointed by the government.
The outgoing Head of Service has also been instructed to formally transfer all responsibilities and documents of the office to the acting Head of Service.
The handover process is expected to be completed on Wednesday, March 11, 2026.
