President Bola Tinubu on Friday welcomed Moro Ojomo, the Nigerian-born American football player, to the State House in Abuja following his Super Bowl LIX victory with the Philadelphia Eagles.

Ojomo, accompanied by his parents, Ololade and Bimbo, and sister, Modele, arrived in Nigeria on Wednesday. Born in Lagos, the 23-year-old athlete moved to the United States at age seven and has since made a name for himself in the National Football League (NFL).

His visit comes weeks after his team’s 40-22 victory over the Kansas City Chiefs in the championship. Speaking earlier in Lagos, Ojomo credited his Nigerian heritage for his determination and success.

“I have a drive and motivation that stem from my upbringing as a Nigerian, and my passion for this country allows me to excel. Nigeria has helped me succeed on the biggest stage,” he said.

He also emphasized the growing presence of Nigerians in American football and how the sport serves as a pathway to education and global recognition. Encouraging young Nigerians, Ojomo urged them to seize opportunities and believe in their potential, stating, “Just believe you can do anything. I know Nigerians are great, and I believe you should take advantage of opportunities and not let anyone deter you.”
