Announcing the outcome, the Returning Officer, Nkiruka Odoh of the University of Abuja, stated that Shekwolo, having scored the majority of valid votes and met the legal requirements, was duly elected and returned as Chairman of Kuje Area Council.

Trailing behind the APC candidate was the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Zakwoyi Danlami, who polled 15,824 votes. The candidate of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), Abdullahi Galadima, secured 4,305 votes.

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) conducted elections across the six area councils of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) last Saturday, covering both chairmanship and councillorship positions.

In addition to the FCT polls, by-elections were held in the Ahoada East II and Khana II state constituencies of Rivers State. Electoral contests were also conducted in the Kano Municipal and Ungogo constituencies in Kano State.

INEC had earlier declared the APC winner in Abuja Municipal Area Council, Kwali, and Bwari Area Councils. It also announced Mohammed Kasim of the PDP as the winner of the Gwagwalada Area Council election.

The President also praised INEC, security agencies, and the electorate for ensuring that the elections were conducted peacefully and successfully.

Tinubu further acknowledged the resilience and discipline demonstrated by all contestants, noting that democracy thrives on active participation and healthy competition.

He added that the orderly conduct of the elections reinforces democratic institutions and culture, while encouraging INEC to continue refining its processes to deliver even more credible and efficient electoral exercises in the future.
