Controversial singer Habeeb Okikiola, popularly known as Portable, has declared that he is undergoing treatment at the Federal Neuropsychiatric Hospital, Aro, Abeokuta, following his declaration as wanted by the Ogun State Police Command.

Portable made this statement on Tuesday while appealing to Nigerians and the Ogun State Government after being accused of assaulting officials from the Ogun State Ministry of Physical Planning and Urban Development, Ota Zonal Office. The officials, identified as TPL Onabanjo Abidemi, TPL Raymond Lateef, and TPL Ridwan Oyero Akinlesi, were carrying out an enforcement exercise in the Oke-Osa, Tigbo Ilu Ota area when they encountered an elderly man, later identified as Portable’s father, at a bar linked to the singer.

Upon requesting the approved building plan for the property, the father informed them that Portable was unavailable. However, moments later, the singer allegedly arrived with a firearm and other weapons, leading a group of nine thugs in an attack on the officials. The police report stated that the officers sustained injuries but managed to escape and report the incident. While nine accomplices were arrested, Portable reportedly fled the scene and has since gone into hiding.

Reacting to the allegations, Portable took to Instagram in a series of videos, claiming that he was set up because he was wearing a vest featuring the image of Senator Adeola Solomon, popularly known as Yayi. He further asserted that he suffers from a mental health condition and is receiving treatment at Aro Hospital, where he has a medical card confirming his patient status.

“I fear the government. I am a federal government liability. I am a madman; I have medications that I take. You can confirm from Aro Hospital. I have a card that certifies me as one of their patients. I am from Abeokuta, and they are taking care of me there. I am not a thief; I help people around me without even looking at their background,” he stated.

The Ogun State Police Command has urged Portable to surrender himself while warning against aiding or harboring him. Authorities have also called on the public for any information that could lead to his arrest. It remains uncertain whether his mental health claims will influence the police’s handling of the case.
