Plateau State Governor, Caleb Mutfwang, has formally withdrawn his membership of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), saying the decision was driven by the need for focused leadership, clearer direction and improved service delivery.

In a letter dated December 29, 2025, and addressed to the PDP Ward Chairman of Ampang West Ward in Mangu Local Government Area, the governor announced his resignation from the party with immediate effect. The letter was acknowledged by the ward leadership the following day.

In the correspondence, Governor Mutfwang expressed gratitude to the PDP for providing him the platform to participate in the democratic process and serve the people. He also appreciated party leaders, members and supporters for their support and cooperation over the years.

According to him, the prevailing political realities informed his decision to step away from the party, as he believes a new political path is required to ensure effective governance and better service delivery to the people of Plateau State.

The development has generated political attention across the state, with growing speculation that the governor may be considering a move to the All Progressives Congress (APC). However, no official announcement has been made regarding his next political affiliation.
