Hamas militants have handed over three Israeli hostages in the latest prisoner exchange under the ongoing ceasefire agreement in Gaza. In return, Israel is set to release 183 Palestinian prisoners later in the day.

The handover, conducted in Deir el-Balah, was facilitated by the International Committee of the Red Cross and was met with celebrations in Tel Aviv, where the release was broadcast live. The hostages—Eli Sharabi, Or Levy, and Ohad Ben Ami—were abducted during the October 7 attack.

Sharabi’s family was tragically killed in the assault on Kibbutz Beeri, while Levy was taken from the Nova music festival, where his wife was murdered. Ben Ami, an Israeli-German dual citizen, marked his 56th birthday in captivity.

The exchange follows controversial remarks by former US President Donald Trump, who suggested removing Gaza’s inhabitants and placing the territory under US control—a proposal widely condemned and rejected by Hamas.

With the ceasefire holding precariously, the latest release marks another step in ongoing negotiations, though tensions remain high.
