Senator Ned Nwoko’s Wives Trade Drug Allegations in Public Social Media Feud

A bitter domestic dispute has spilled onto social media, with two wives of Nigerian Senator Ned Nwoko making explosive allegations against each other that have captivated the nation and raised serious questions about the private life of the prominent lawmaker.

Laila Charani, the Moroccan wife of the Delta North Senator,  leveled serious accusations against fellow wife Regina Daniels, the popular Nollywood actress, alleging drug use, corruption of household staff, and inappropriate sexual conduct. The allegations came in response to claims Daniels reportedly made about drug use among Nwoko’s other wives.

In a lengthy Instagram post that has since gone viral, Charani painted a troubling picture of life within the polygamous household. She accused Daniels of introducing her to illicit substances approximately six years ago, claiming the experience nearly cost her her marriage.

“You know too well that I almost lost my marriage when you introduced me to drugs 6 years ago and it was my husband’s quick insistence on intervention that rescued me from that dark path,” Charani wrote, suggesting that Senator Nwoko’s intervention was instrumental in helping her overcome what she described as a drug addiction.

Charani went further, alleging that Daniels has been “a bad influence” within the family, claiming the actress provided drugs to household staff, including nannies, and even to her own younger sister, Destiny. She characterized Daniels’ presence as toxic, stating, “You infested everyone with your virus.”

The Moroccan-born wife also addressed what she claimed was the root cause of tensions between Daniels and their shared husband, asserting that the senator’s abstinence from drugs and alcohol has put him at odds with the actress.

“The only reason Regina Daniels is fighting with our husband is because he wants her to stop drug and alcohol addiction,” Charani alleged, emphasizing that Senator Nwoko “doesn’t smoke nor take alcohol.”

In perhaps the most inflammatory portion of her statement, Charani accused Daniels of engaging in same-sex relationships with female household members and acquaintances, expressing concern about leaving her daughters unsupervised around the actress.

Senator Ned Nwoko, a lawyer, businessman, and politician representing Delta North in the Nigerian Senate, practices polygamy and is known to have multiple wives. Regina Daniels, who married the considerably older senator in 2019 when she was 19, has been one of his most visible spouses due to her celebrity status in Nigeria’s film industry.

The marriage attracted significant public attention at the time due to the couple’s age difference and has remained a subject of media fascination. Daniels has frequently shared glimpses of her luxurious lifestyle on social media, portraying what appeared to be a harmonious family life.

As of this report, Regina Daniels has not publicly responded to Charani’s serious allegations. Representatives for the actress could not immediately be reached for comment, and it remains unclear whether she intends to address the claims or pursue legal action.

Senator Nwoko’s office has also not issued any statement regarding the public feud between his wives, and attempts to reach the lawmaker for comment were unsuccessful.

The allegations have sparked intense discussion on Nigerian social media, with opinions divided between those expressing concern about the serious nature of the claims and others questioning the appropriateness of airing such private matters publicly. Legal experts have noted that some of the allegations, if proven false, could constitute defamation, while if true, they could warrant investigation by relevant authorities.

The scandal also raises broader questions about polygamous arrangements and the unique challenges they present, particularly when played out in the public eye through social media platforms.

WHAT YOU SHOULD KNOW

A serious public feud has erupted between two wives of Nigerian Senator Ned Nwoko, with Moroccan wife Laila Charani accusing actress Regina Daniels of introducing her to drugs six years ago and corrupting household staff.

Charani claims the senator intervened to save her from addiction and alleges Daniels’ current conflict with their husband stems from his efforts to address her substance abuse issues.

The accusations, made via Instagram, also include allegations of inappropriate sexual conduct. Daniels has not responded to these serious claims, which remain unverified.

The scandal exposes the private tensions within a high-profile polygamous marriage and raises questions about accountability, given the serious nature of the drug-related allegations involving a sitting senator’s household.

Unverified but explosive allegations of drug use and misconduct have turned a private marital dispute into a public scandal with potential legal and political ramifications for all involved.
