An Abuja Magistrate Court has granted bail to Samuel Ojeogwu, popularly known as Sammy West, the brother of prominent Nollywood actress Regina Daniels, following his arraignment on multiple criminal charges last week.

Ojeogwu, who was remanded in custody after his initial court appearance on Thursday, November 6, faced a five-count charge including criminal conspiracy, criminal trespass, assault, criminal intimidation, and theft. The specifics of the alleged offenses have not been publicly disclosed by authorities.

The bail hearing, which took place earlier today, saw his legal representatives successfully argue for his temporary release pending the conclusion of the case. While the court approved the bail application, the specific conditions attached to his release have not yet been made public. Legal experts suggest bail conditions in cases of this nature typically include monetary bonds, surrender of travel documents, and regular court appearances.

The proceedings drew significant attention, with several high-profile personalities turning out in support of the accused. Video footage circulating on social media platforms shows Rita Daniels, mother to both Samuel and Regina Daniels, emerging from the courthouse alongside notable Nollywood actresses Mercy Johnson and Doris Ogala. Also present was social activist known as Mama Pee, indicating the case has garnered considerable interest within entertainment and social circles.

The presence of such prominent figures underscores the public interest surrounding the case and highlights the influential connections of the Daniels family within Nigeria’s entertainment industry. Regina Daniels, Samuel’s older sister, is one of Nollywood’s most recognizable faces and is married to billionaire businessman Ned Nwoko.

The defendant is expected to return to court on a date to be communicated by the court registry as the case proceeds to trial. The prosecution will be required to present evidence supporting the charges, while the defense will have the opportunity to challenge the allegations.

As of press time, neither the defendant nor his legal team has issued an official statement regarding the charges or the bail conditions. The case continues to generate conversation across social media, with supporters and critics alike weighing in on the matter.

Further updates are expected as the case progresses through the judicial system.
