The General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Pastor Enoch Adejare Adeboye, has raised concerns that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is being misled by some of his advisers, especially regarding the nation’s worsening security challenges.

Speaking during the November Holy Ghost Service of the church, themed “The Eve of Glory,” Adeboye referred to a recent presidential speech that claimed security had improved and displaced persons had returned to their communities.

“I almost spoke out last month when I heard the speech from my in-law, the President,” he said. “When I heard him say that all is well now and that displaced people have returned to their villages, I almost said that the person who wrote that speech for my President, my in-law, does not like him.”

He continued, “And if you were to ask, ‘What do you mean? Somebody wrote it, but it was the President who read it,’ my response would be, didn’t he review it before delivering it? Well, if you put it that way, then my conclusion is that there are several people around my beloved in-law who are not telling him the truth.”

Adeboye emphasized that the security crisis predated Tinubu’s administration, saying, “Our President inherited this problem; it started before him. And in any case, I am an applied mathematician; I am interested in simply getting the problem solved.”

He urged the President to seek diplomatic understanding with US President Donald Trump to grant Nigeria a 100-day grace period before any international action is taken, during which service chiefs should be mandated to deliver results or resign.

“We have been praying for Nigeria; we can’t pray all these prayers without something happening,” he said, invoking Newton’s Law of Motion as a metaphor for divine intervention: “Whatever method God wants to use, at the end of it all, there will be peace in Nigeria again.”

Adeboye further explained his usual restraint from making political statements, citing his position under the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN). “I have discovered in the Bible that a man not under authority cannot cast out a demon,” he noted, stressing the importance of obedience within spiritual hierarchy.

What You Should Know
Pastor Enoch Adeboye, one of Nigeria’s most influential religious leaders, is known for his measured tone and moral counsel to political leaders.

His remarks come amid growing insecurity and US criticism of Nigeria’s handling of religious violence. By calling on President Tinubu to reassess his advisers and approach national security with urgency and honesty, Adeboye underscores the need for transparency, accountability, and divine guidance in governance.

His call for diplomatic engagement reflects a push for peace amid mounting international scrutiny.
