Arsenal have confirmed that French defender William Saliba has signed a new long-term contract, securing his stay at the Emirates until 2030.

The 24-year-old’s previous deal had been set to expire in 2027, but he has now extended his commitment despite earlier speculation linking him with Real Madrid.

Saliba, who joined the Gunners in 2019, spent several loan spells before firmly establishing himself in Mikel Arteta’s starting XI during the 2022/23 campaign. Since then, he has been a central figure in a team that has finished runners-up in the Premier League for three consecutive seasons.

Expressing his delight, Saliba said: “I feel at home. We have a good team, we have a good squad, we have good staff. The coach is perfect for me, so it’s the best place to be. I enjoy every day when I have the chance to wear this shirt. I try to give everything, and now I’ll give even more to this club and to the fans.”

Manager Mikel Arteta praised the defender’s influence both on and off the pitch: “William is loved by all the players and staff, and that speaks volumes about his character, commitment and attitude every day. Since joining us, William has grown so much, embraced responsibility, and has created a strong connection with our supporters and everyone at the club.”

Arsenal currently sit second in the Premier League table, trailing leaders Liverpool by just two points after six games.
