The Senate of Lagos State University has officially ended its industrial action, following the decision of the institution’s Joint Action Committee after a meeting with Lagos State Deputy Governor, Dr. Obafemi Hamzat, last Thursday.
In a statement signed by the Deputy Registrar and Coordinator of the Centre for Information and Public Relations, Thomas-Onashile Oluwayemisi, it was confirmed that the JAC approved the immediate restoration of academic and social activities, effective Wednesday, 13th August 2025.
After reviewing updates from the Vice-Chancellor on the outcome of the meeting with the Deputy Governor, the Senate resolved that all academic and social engagements should resume across LASU campuses in Ojo, Ikeja, and Epe starting Wednesday, 13th August 2025. Students will be allowed to move into their hostels on the same date. Furthermore, the Second Semester examinations for the 2024/2025 academic session, which were earlier suspended, will now begin on Monday, 18th August 2025.
“Students are advised to return promptly and prepare adequately for the examinations,” the statement read.
It will be recalled that on Saturday, 2nd August 2025, during a virtual meeting, the institution’s Senate had suspended all academic and social activities in response to the Joint Action Committee of Staff Unions declaring industrial action on Thursday, 31st July 2025.
