Kamala Harris, the first woman to serve as U.S. vice president, announced on Thursday the release of her upcoming memoir, 107 Days, offering a candid behind-the-scenes account of her short-lived 2024 presidential campaign against Donald Trump.

The book, published by Simon & Schuster, will be available in the United States on September 23.

“Just over a year ago, I launched my campaign for president of the United States, 107 days—traveling the country, fighting for our future—the shortest presidential campaign in modern history,” Harris shared in a video posted on social media.

Her run began after President Joe Biden exited the race in July 2024 amid rising concerns over his cognitive health, leaving Harris to step in as the Democratic Party nominee. Despite the high stakes, her campaign ended in defeat to Trump.

Harris said the memoir was written with “candor and reflection,” and promised readers an intimate look at her experience on the campaign trail. The title, 107 Days, marks the exact length of her historic yet unsuccessful bid for the presidency.

Though she recently confirmed she will not run for California governor in 2026, speculation about a potential 2028 presidential campaign is already stirring. In her video message, Harris noted, “Sometimes, the fight takes a while” — a phrase many believe signals her intention to stay politically active.

The former senator is also making a media comeback, with an appearance scheduled on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert—a flagship talk show on CBS that the network recently canceled citing financial pressures. The show’s cancellation came amid ongoing fallout from CBS’s parent company, Paramount, which recently settled a $16 million lawsuit with Trump related to a 2024 election segment involving Harris on 60 Minutes.

Meanwhile, Trump dismissed Harris’s political skills when asked about her future prospects. “She can’t talk. She can’t do an interview. I thought it was a very strange campaign we had,” he said, before quipping, “Yeah, I think I’m going to buy it. I’d love to see it,” in reference to 107 Days.

In related news, Karine Jean-Pierre, the former White House press secretary under Biden, is also set to publish her memoir, Independent, having left the Democratic Party and accused it of betraying Biden.

What you should know

Kamala Harris’s 107 Days reflects on her brief but historic 2024 presidential run and aims to reintroduce her voice into U.S. politics. While she remains outside elected office for now, her statements and upcoming media appearances suggest her political journey may be far from over.
