Super Falcons Crush Ghana 3-1 in Final WAFCON Warm-Up Match

Nigeria’s Super Falcons secured a dominant 3-1 victory over rivals Ghana in a friendly match held in Morocco on Sunday, June 29, 2025, their final warm-up before the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON), which begins on July 5, 2025.

The Super Falcons surged to a three-goal lead before Ghana scored a late consolation goal.

Chinwendu Ihezuo opened the scoring in the 34th minute, followed by a goal from Bay FC’s Asisat Oshoala in the 44th minute, doubling Nigeria’s lead.

Captain Rasheedat Ajibade sealed the commanding performance with a third goal early in the second half. Ghana’s Black Queens managed a consolation strike in the 88th minute, but the outcome was already decided.

The match followed a goalless draw against Portugal on June 23, 2025, showcasing Nigeria’s readiness for the tournament.

The Super Falcons, record nine-time WAFCON champions, are in Group B alongside Tunisia, Botswana, and Algeria, with their opening match against Tunisia set for Sunday, July 6, 2025.

They aim to claim a historic 10th title in the competition.
