Senior Pastor of House on the Rock Church, Paul Adefarasin, has denied claims circulating online that he was seen holding a firearm in a viral video.

The video, which began making rounds on social media earlier in the week, shows Pastor Adefarasin engaging with a passerby while holding an object from his car window. The footage sparked controversy, with some alleging the object was a gun and accusing the pastor of brandishing it during the encounter.

Taking to his official X handle, Adefarasin addressed the incident directly, dismissing the gun claims as a misunderstanding.

“You might be aware of a video which has been circulating on social media showing me in what some have misunderstood as brandishing a firearm,” he wrote. “I want to assure you of this — that was certainly not a firearm, and at no point did I point such at anyone.”

He emphasized that the claims were false and assured the public that the object was not a weapon. He also acknowledged the concern the video may have caused and urged people not to fall for misinformation or sensationalism.

“We understand the concern that this accusation may have caused, and we will speak briefly to this mischief during the 9:00 a.m. service tomorrow. Thank you for your patience and understanding,” Adefarasin added.

According to reports circulating alongside the video, the incident occurred when a passerby recognized the pastor in traffic. After winding down his window, Adefarasin was seen holding an object, which some misinterpreted as a gun.

Reassuring his congregation and the general public, Adefarasin reiterated his commitment to integrity and truth. His message began warmly: “Dear Family, trusting that this meets you well, winning and on top of the tests of life,” before reaffirming that the object in question was not a firearm.

He concluded his message by inviting members of the public to attend Sunday’s service, where the matter would be addressed briefly. “Do not permit the level where you are comfortable to keep you from God’s next calling upon your life,” he added.

Since the pastor’s clarification, he has received support from various individuals urging critics to verify facts before drawing conclusions.
