The Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Olufemi Oluyede, has called on troops of Operation FASAN YAMMA to intensify their efforts in flushing out bandits and terrorists threatening the peace of Nigeria’s North-West region.
Represented by Major General Adeleke Ayannuga, Commander of the Nigerian Army Cyber Warfare Command, Oluyede delivered the charge during a special Sallah lunch with frontline troops on Friday in Sokoto.
He commended the soldiers for their achievements in degrading terrorist elements and stressed the importance of maintaining the momentum until full victory is secured.
Oluyede highlighted the importance of unity across all military ranks and among sister security agencies, noting that collaboration is key to sustaining progress in the fight against insecurity.
The festive gathering also included morale-boosting activities, such as singing and cultural performances, giving troops a chance to celebrate Sallah at the frontline. The Army Chief personally served food and drinks to soldiers as a gesture of appreciation for their sacrifices.
He later visited wounded personnel receiving treatment at the Giginya Army Barracks military hospital, where he reassured them of the Federal Government’s commitment to their recovery and welfare.
Among the dignitaries present was a representative of the Sultan of Sokoto, Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar. The celebration was marked by performances from cultural troupes, bringing moments of joy to troops who remain stationed far from home during the festive season.
