American actor and R&B singer Tyrese Gibson has turned the table on cancel culture with a defiant and inspirational message that’s resonating across social media.

In a post shared to his Instagram Story, the Fast & Furious star boldly declared that being “canceled” was one of the best things that ever happened to him.

The 45-year-old entertainer, known for his outspoken personality and unwavering faith, took aim at the cultural phenomenon that has derailed the careers of several public figures in recent years.

“Cancel culture is the greatest gift,” Gibson wrote. “There would be no such thing as being canceled if they wasn’t watching your every move. This is biblical. God will never give YOU something [somebody else] is supposed to have.”

Tyrese went on to encourage others not to be discouraged by public criticism, but instead to stay true to their unique path. “Keep flying, keep being a disruptor and keep elevating. Only those that are different change things,” he advised, echoing sentiments that celebrate resilience, individuality, and faith.

In a triumphant finale, the Sweet Lady hitmaker rattled off a list of achievements that followed his so-called cancellation. “I hope I get canceled again,” he said, revealing that he’s booked 35 movies, secured five number-one singles, and released three number-one albums in the aftermath.

The post has since sparked widespread discussion online. Fans flooded comment sections and fan pages with messages of support, applauding Tyrese for his optimism and his refusal to be defined by criticism. “He turned a setback into a setup for a comeback,” one user wrote. Another added, “Whether you love him or not, you’ve got to respect the hustle.”

While Tyrese has faced various controversies and online backlash in the past—ranging from personal disputes aired on social media to public feuds—his latest statement reinforces a growing narrative among some celebrities who view cancel culture not as a death sentence, but as a spotlight that, when handled wisely, can amplify one’s platform.

WHAT YOU SHOULD KNOW

Tyrese’s message serves as a reminder that, in his words, “Only those that are different change things.”

Tyrese presents a powerful counter-narrative to the idea that being “canceled” ends a career. Instead of viewing it as a downfall, he frames it as a launchpad—an opportunity to reflect, grow, and even thrive. His success after backlash is proof that resilience and purpose can turn public criticism into momentum.
