Ronald Fenty, the father of global superstar Rihanna, passed away at the age of 70 in Los Angeles following a brief illness. The news was first reported by the Barbados-based Starcom Network, though the official cause and date of death remain undisclosed.
Sources close to the family told Starcom that Fenty was surrounded by loved ones at the time of his passing. Photos obtained by TMZ show Rihanna’s younger brother, Rajad Fenty, arriving at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center on May 28, with reports indicating that Rihanna, currently pregnant with her third child, was also present in the vehicle.
Fenty, a Barbados native, was the father of Rihanna, born Robyn Rihanna Fenty in February 1988 to him and Monica Braithwaite. The couple also shared two other children, Rajad and Rorrey. Fenty had three additional children from prior relationships: daughters Samantha and Kandy and son Jamie.
Representatives for Rihanna did not respond to requests for comment as of Saturday, May 31. The family has not yet released further details about Fenty’s passing or memorial plans.
