The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) has confirmed the arrival of 104 Nigerian returnees from Algeria through the Assisted Voluntary Returns programme, a joint initiative between the International Organisation for Migration (IOM) and the Federal Government.
According to an official statement posted on NEMA’s X handle on Tuesday, the returnees landed at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport cargo terminal in Lagos on Sunday, June 30, 2025, at about 1:50 p.m. They arrived aboard Air Algerie flight number 70-BKT.
Among the group were 80 adult males, 14 adult females, two male children, five female children, and three infants.
Upon landing, the Nigerian Immigration Service conducted biometric registration and documentation for the returnees. NEMA provided immediate humanitarian support, including meals, water, medical attention, ambulance services, luggage handling, and other necessary logistics.
The agency emphasized that the initiative reflects a concerted effort to ensure the safe and dignified reintegration of the returnees into society.
