The University of Port Harcourt (UNIPORT) has conferred honorary Doctor of Science degrees on key Nigerian figures, including the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, and the First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu.
The awards were presented during UNIPORT’s 50th Anniversary celebration and 35th Convocation ceremony held on Saturday. The event was themed around a lecture titled ‘The Role of Universities in Nation Building’, highlighting the institution’s commitment to shaping national development through education.

Alongside Wike and Tinubu, other distinguished recipients included Aminu Masari, Chairman of the Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund), and Governor Umaru Fintiri of Adamawa State. The honourees were recognized for their significant contributions to public service, governance, and national development.
